love a good-smelling home but don’t always want to light a tiny controlled fire to make it happen? same. here’s the lowdown on reed diffusers, room sprays + wax melts — aka three ridiculously easy ways to keep your space smelling real nice, no flame required :)
listen, i love me a candle.
Obviously. I have built an entire personality + business around making your house smell nice, based on candles! But sometimes? You don’t want to light one.
Maybe you have pets, kids, a forgetful brain, a workplace that absolutely does not want you setting things on fire, or you just want your space to smell good without having to think about it (hello, that's me).
Good news: candles are only one way to make your home smell really, really nice.
So if you’re looking for a way to make your house smell awesome without the flame, here’s your guide to the flameless side of Homebody :)
reed diffusers: for the set-it-and-forget-it crowd
room sprays: for the oh god, this needs fixing right now crowd
wax melts: for the want to do as little as possible with maximum success crowd
reed diffusers: for the set-it-and-forget-it crowd
Reed diffusers are probably the closest thing to putting your home fragrance on autopilot.
There’s no flame, no spraying, no plugging anything in. The reeds slowly pull the fragrance up from the bottle + release it into the air, so your space gets a steady little background hum of scent all day long.
They’re especially great for places where you want something that smells nice all the time — bathrooms, entryways, bedrooms, offices, or that one weird little corner of your house that could use some help (we all have one, don't pretend like you're not one of us lol).
Best for: continuous, low-maintenance fragrance.
Lil' tip: Flip your reeds whenever you want a stronger burst of fragrance. More reeds = more scent! So you can adjust them depending on the size of your space + how strong you like things :)
room sprays: for the oh-god-this-needs-fixing-right-now crowd
Room sprays are for when you walk into a room and think "oh boy, okay, we need to do something about this immediately" 😅
A few spritzes + tada! FIXED!
They’re perfect if you like changing scents depending on your mood, don’t necessarily want fragrance going 24/7 or want something you can grab whenever your space needs a refresh.
They’re also great when the dogs be doggin', or after cooking, if you don't really feel like cleaning, but want it to feel like you cleaned, or my personal favorite... approximately 10 seconds after someone knocks on the door + you’ve suddenly decided your house needs to smell like you have your life together or else this person will tell the entire neighborhood your house is funky + not in a fun way.
Best for: quick fragrance whenever you want it.
Lil' tip: Keep one in your car! No more "ooh, forgot to toss that old starbucks cup two days ago" vibe. Or major bonus tip... spray directly into your ceiling fans for maximum scent spread!
wax melts: for the minimum-effort-maximum-results crowd
If what you really want is that cozy, room-filling fragrance you get from a candle, wax melts are ✨your girl✨
Pop a few pieces into an electric wax warmer + let the wax do its thing. These are basically the melt pool of your candle, but without the wick. They'll continually release scent into the room as long as your melter is on!
These are really great for apartments, offices, dorms, or anywhere else candles aren’t "allowed" — or if you’re simply someone who would rather not have a tiny controlled fire sitting on the coffee table :)
Wax melts also make it ridiculously easy to switch between scents depending on your mood.
Best for: a stronger, cozy fragrance experience without an open flame.
Lil' tip: Did you know you can MIX AND MATCH these babies?! Literally SO FUN. Want Strawberry Patch + Herb Garden at the same time for the best "I live inside the best garden in the world" vibes? BOOM. DONE. Throw one cube of each in there!
so... which crowd are you in?
Honestly, it depends on what kind of homebody you are.
If you want something you barely have to think about → grab a reed diffuser
If you want to control exactly when and how much fragrance you use → room spray all the way
If you want the cozy ritual + scent throw of a candle without actually lighting one → wax melts + endless creative freedom to mix + match
And you absolutely don’t have to pick just one. A reed diffuser in the bathroom, room spray by the door, wax melts going while you’re cleaning the house? That’s not excessive. That’s called ✨layering✨.
your house deserves to smell nice
Home fragrance doesn’t have to mean lighting a candle every time you want your space to feel cozier (or let's be honest, just smell better than what's currently happening at the moment).
Sometimes you want a scent quietly doing its thing in the background. Sometimes you need your living room to smell better right now. Sometimes you want to turn on a wax warmer, put on your comfiest clothes + become completely unavailable to the outside world.
There’s a Homebody for all of it. No flame required :)
